Product Details

This mint condition 500/1 bass is one of a limited edition of 400 basses produced to commemorate the first 20 years of Music Ground and 40 years of the 500/1 Bass.

Walter Hofner designed the 500/1 Bass Guitar during 1955, and the bass itself was introduced to the public at the Frankfurt Music Show in February 1956. Hofner decided to commemorate the 40th anniversary of these events with the introduction of a special version of the Violin Bass - includes a two-piece neck, together with two-on-a-plate tuners, and perhaps more importantly the use of "selected" (European sourced) flame maple veneers. Laminated spruce was used for the body top. The scratch plate and rear headstock feature commemorative logos, with a copy of Walter Hofner's signature on the scratch plate. An ornate 20/40 Certificate is included, with various the signatures including that of Christian Benker (Hofner's MD at the time), along with a plain scratch plate should you wish to replace the commemorative plate.

The bass has had one owner from new and has been played for about 60 minutes during the last 30 years – it really is in “as new” condition, and comes complete with original hard case it was supplied with.
