Westone guitars and basses were made by Matsumoku in Japan from 1981 to about 1987/88.
This 1984 Westone Thunder I is a great example of the 3rd version of this classic Japanese made guitar. The construction comprises Laminated Ash, Maple and Walnut body with a bolt on 3-ply Maple neck with a Rosewood fretboard. Features for this period include Bird' W logo on headstock, serial number on the back of the headstock and through-body stringing. The power comes from 2 Hammer I humbuckers, one volume and two tone controls with a 3 way pickup selector and coil tap switch.
This guitar is all original and, considering it is over 40 years old, is in fantastic condition with only a few small dents to the edge of the body and a vacant strap button hole on the treble horn to show for its age – comes complete with gig bag.
