The MC924 is a Musician series solid body electric bass model produced by Ibanez, in Japan (FujiGen) from 1980 to 1984.
The MC924 features neck-through-body construction of solid Ash attached to a maple and walnut neck with a 24-fret ebony fingerboard with abalone dot position markers. The components of this 1984 model include an Accu-Cast B II gold plated fixed bridge, Sure grip II control knobs, a “P/J" pickup arrangement with Super (J5/P5) pickups, controlled by a highly developed correction system with two parallel tracks: (passive and active), and Velve Tune B machine heads.
This metallic Polar White finished bass is all original and in great condition. The gold hardware has dulled a bit over time but all works as it should – the sound and tonal variety from the pickup system is fantastic – no wonder so many famous players used this model. The bass does have some signs of its 40 years, especially with some chips to the front of the headstock, and a ding to the bottom edge of the body (beneath the control knobs (see last picture). Set up with a brand new set of Regular Slinky strings on board, the bass comes complete with its original Ibanez fitted hard case.
