These early Fullerton made AVRI Stratocasters are one of our favourite “modern” Fenders. This one is a 1983 Fender American Vintage Re-issue ’62 Stratocaster in its original 3 tone Sunburst finish.
Fullerton Era reissues were the first ever made. They are considered by many players and collectors as the closest to the pre-CBS original Strats. They were only produced between 1982 and 1984, before Fender moved from Fullerton to Corona in 1985 when CNC machinery production replaced hand crafting.
Neck pencil date reads “1-20-83” and serial number V008156 comes back as 1982-83. The guitar is all original with the exception of 2 of the pots, 1 pickup cover, and the middle pickup, which seems to have been replace with a grey bottom 70s Stratocaster pickup. The slim C shaped neck is great fun to play and really feels like a ’62 neck.
Despite being over 40 years old the guitar is in great condition. The frets show a little bit of wear across the top few frets but still plenty of life in them yet. The body does have some minor marks and dings which we have captures best we can across the last 4 pictures. Overall this is a great example of an early Fullerton made AVRI ’62 and comes complete with a Fender Tweed case.
