1983 Aria Pro II SB Special II – this is a rare Matsumoku made Aria Pro II bass guitar, with circa 1,000 only made. This one is rarer still being a lined fretless bass. We would guess that this has been “de-fretted” at some point, or a factory special order – which ever one, it has certainly been done very well. As well as fret lines the bass also has marker dots to the side of the neck as per a fretted bass. The rosewood fretboard is in excellent condition and the bass has new flatwound Ernie Ball strings with nice low action, with no buzz across the fretboard.
Despite being 40+ years old the bass is in great condition with only some very light scratches around the edges to show for its age (too light to catch on pictures). The bass has very interesting electronics. The 2 Aria Double Coil pickups are controlled by a standard 3-position switch, stacked volume tone controls and 2 micro switches which provide coil split and series/parallel options - giving an incredible range of tones.
The bass comes complete with a rectangular hard case which looks to be a similar age to the bass.
