The Gibson Les Paul Deluxe was released as a replacement for the Les Paul Standard in late 1969, equipped with mini-humbuckers sourced from Gibson's purchase of the Epiphone factory.
This Gold Top 1971 model is a stunning example - Construction is pancake body with a solid maple cap, mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard.
Bought in Glasgow in March 1972 the guitar has only had the one owner from new – and how well has it been kept!! The guitar is all original with the exception of a change of saddles (a pretty common change for these guitars putting on metal saddles in place of the nylon saddles). The mini humbuckers have pat number stickers and pot codes are ‘71.
The guitar is in truly fantastic condition – Fretboard id in great condition and the original frets have no visible signs of were. As can be seen on the pictures the headstock logo is slightly worn and there are 2 small marks on the back below the two cover panels. There are 2 tiny, tiny marks on the gold top and a tiny loss of gold finish just next to neck, however we are being really picky here – this is the best condition ‘70s Deluxe we have ever seen. The guitar comes complete with the original “croc skin” Selmer hard case that was purchased with guitar from new.
