The Gibson Les Paul Deluxe was released as a replacement for the Les Paul Standard in late 1969, equipped with mini-humbuckers sourced from Gibson's purchase of the Epiphone factory.
This lovely 1971 model is a nice early example - Construction is pancake body with a solid maple cap, mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard. The guitar is in really good condition for its age – the Cherry Burst finish to the maple cap looks fantastic and is in great condition with the exception of 1 small mark. The finish to the back and sides has a bit of play wear and mild buckle rash as you would expect with a guitar that has clearly had a lot of play over the 50+ years – we have tried to show these on the last 8 pictures.
The guitar has had a re-fret at some point (no fret nibs) – it is such a comfortable neck to play. The rest of the guitar is all original with the exception of the jack plate and the nylon saddles – the broken originals are in the case. The mini humbuckers have pat number stickers and pot codes are ‘71.
This is a great example of a vintage Les Paul Deluxe that looks, plays and sounds great, and it comes complete with the original MIJ case that the guitar was bought with and the original receipt for the purchase of the guitar in Glasgow in 1972 for £258.
