The Fender Stratocaster is arguably the most iconic, most played, and most copied electric guitar design of all-time. Fender launched the Strat in 1954, and the model evolved throughout the '50s and '60s. With the CBS purchase of Fender in 1965 the Stratocaster would see some changes over the following years. The most notable was the introduction of the larger headstock size starting at end of 1965. Much of the rest of the specification was common to late 60s Stratocaster with Alder body; Maple neck with Rosewood veneer fretboard; 4 bolt bolt-on neck; dot inlays; 3 single-coil pickups, 3-way pickup selector - Sunburst was the standard finish for '60s Strats.
This 1969 Stratocaster is all original with the exception of the switch tip (which is a vintage tip just not original to this guitar) and the nut - everything else would appear to be original. The pickups are stamped for 1969, the pots are week 18 1966 (which Fender used up until 1972) and the neck stamp is for April 1969. The body has no alterations and still has its original sunburst finish, with lots of natural relic to the finish (see the last 4 pictures) - this guitar has been well played over the years. with a new set of Regular Slinkys on board this guitar plays and sounds fantastic - and comes complete with its original Fender hard case.
