Harmony was one of the most successful guitar makers in the USA, manufacturing most all of their guitars in Chicago during the peak years in the mid-1960s. Founded in 1892 by Wilhelm Schultz a German immigrant from Hamburg they made circa 10,000,000 instruments before their demise in 1975.
This 1968 Harmony H168 was at the premium end of Harmony’s acoustic guitars, featuring a bound Brazilian Rosewood fretboard, double bound mahogany body with a solid Spruce top. The Birch neck has the distinctive “Fender style” headstock with 6 in-line tuner set. The concert size body is slightly slimmer than most acoustics at only 3 ¼“ deep, but still produces a deep and vibrant tone. The guitar is in fantastic condition with only some very minor marks and wear to show for its 55+ years of age. The guitar has been refurbished by ourselves including a neck reset (as is normally required for vintage Harmony guitars) along with a new nut and saddle – so the guitar is ready to go on for another 55+ years. And the guitar comes complete with its original fibreboard hard case which is in equally good condition – one of the 2 straps no longer works but the 2 catches and 2 nd strap still keep the guitar safe.
