Product Details

The Fender Jaguar was introduced in 1962 as a high-end model guitar, four years after the Jazzmaster. Though similar to the Jazzmaster in its offset body and lead/rhythm circuits controls, the Jaguar differs in two key ways. For one, the Jaguar uses a shorter 24-inch scale length compared to the 25 1/2-inch of most Fender guitars. Additionally, the Jaguar has two thinner single-coil pickups compared to the feedback-prone soapbox pickups of the Jazzmaster. The Jaguar was not as popular as the Telecaster or Strat in its initial run, but has found some popularity with punk, grunge and indie rockers since.

This 1964 model is in really great condition, and is all original with the exception of the 4 pickup screws (originals screws included in the case). As you would expect with a 60+ year old pre-CBS Fender guitar there is some perfect play wear on the back of the neck, and there are some marks on the body (see last 6 pictures) but it really is in great shape. The Serial number on the neck plate comes back to 1964 which is matched with the neck stamp of DEC 64 and the pots codes of week 50 of 1964. Setup with a new set of Power Slinkys the guitar plays great and the tones are pure vintage Jaguar. The guitar come complete with is fabulous Selmer crocodile skin hard case that the guitar was originally sold with.
