The Hofner Verithin appeared in the Selmer London catalogue of 1960, at around the same time as Hofner introduced the same basic guitar with the 4574 model designation in the general European market price list.
The Verithin features a hollow, twin cutaway body with a depth of only 30mm. Laminated flame maple is used for the body back & sides, with a double “Venetian” cutaway laminated spruce top.
The neck is a three-piece maple/beech set-neck with Pearloid/tortoishell strip fret-markers inlaid into the rosewood fingerboard, and a "President-style" bell-flower design inlaid into the ebony fascia of the headstock. For the first year or so, the guitar was finished in "russet-mahogany", but this then changed to this brighter "Cherry Red" finish that is synonymous with the Verithin.
This 1963 model is all original and is in fantastic condition, being well looked after by its one owner from new. Includes the factory fitted B6 Bigsby which was produced by Selmer under license
As you would expect from a 60+ year old guitar it does have some tiny scars with a little loss of finish to the top and back of the headstock and an additional strap button has been added to the bass side horn (see last 2 pictures). It still plays great and the sound from these Staple pickups is brilliant. The guitar comes complete with a Hiscox fitted case.
