The Hofner Senator Bass guitar Introduced in the UK 1963 to replace the 500/3 bass - 1963 was the only year that the Senator Bass had the treble clef facia, with this being changed to the "dagger" motif in 1964.
The Senator has a 2" deep cutaway body, single pickup with volume and tone controls. The 30" scale maple neck has a Rosewood fretboard with a zero feet.
This great looking example is all original with the exception of the electrics - the pots are "modern" and not original and the pickup has been replaced with a Hofner Blade bass pickup from circa 1968-72. Unfortunately, whoever changed the electric cut a small access panel in the back of the guitar and enlarged the pickup hole to fit the Blade pickup (see last picture). The guitar does have a few small marks to show for its age - we have shown these in the last 5 pictures - the (very reasonable) price we have set reflects these marks and the electrics change.
The bass comes complete with its original Selmer tweed finished case - the case is in good condition with all catches, hinges and original leather handle all working as they should - only issue with the case is the ribbon that holds lid in the open position has broken.
