1960 Hofner 500/3 Bass Brunette - Selmer Serial No. 458.
Produced with the same headstock (plastic Treble Clef fascia) as the Senator thinline but with 2.5" body depth and a Single knob Rectangular Hofner control consul. We presume this is a slightly late 1960 model as it has a 22 fret neck that became the norm for the Senator bass, the model that replaced the 500/3 in 1963.
This Hofner 500/3 has been restored and has some non-original parts – the scratch plate, scratch plate bracket and floating bridge are all replacement parts. Also the bass has its jack input on the top, next to the control panel (existing, redundant, jack point still on lower edge) – other than this the bass is all original and is in really good condition, with a few marks to show for its 60+ years, including a large blemish under the scratch plate from being played without a scratch plate for many years (see last 8 pictures). The neck has been reset by ourselves so good for another 60 years. Comes complete with a TGI Extreme acoustic bass rigid gig bag.
