GUILD introduced the X50 archtop in 1952 – It is a deep bodied non-cutaway archtop the equivalent of a Gibson ES-125 or Epiphone Century. It was initially called the Granada-50, then renamed the Granada X-50 and in 1960 it became the Guild Cordoba X-50
The X-50 has a single Guild "Frequency Tested" single coil soapbar pickup with a volume and tone control. The body is mahogany with a Spruce top. The neck the special Guild fast-action Honduras mahogany neck and adjustable steel neck rod, rosewood fingerboard with pearl position markers. The guitar plays really nicely, with low action and plenty of room on the floating bridge to raise or lower the action as required. The pickup gives a nice powerful output challenging the valves of our shop amps on the clean channel.
Despite being almost 70 years old this US made guitar is in great shape – It is all original with the exception of the heel plate that we have added. It has a nice aged patina finish to the top and only a couple of small marks to the back to show for its age (see last 3 pictures). The guitar comes complete with a “modern” fitted hard case.
