Product Details

This Gallotone Champion was made by Gallo Industries in the late fifties and is identical to the first guitar that John Lennon owned – famous picture of a checked shirted Lennon playing the Gallotone.

The Champion model is a 3/4 size steel string flat-top acoustic made from laminated woods, and was "guaranteed not to split". The tailpiece is pressed steel with the ''Gallotone'' name, with the Gallo, Gallotone and Champion logos still clear on the headstock.

The guitar is in very good condition and is all original – these are getting harder to find, especially in this condition. And this example is not just a collectable wall hanger – we have refurbished the guitar and brought it back to great playing condition – including as re-securing the bracing, re-fixing the back to the body, tidied up rough fret ends and setup with a new set of light strings. The body does have a few marks on back and sides, and some play wear to the top (see last 7 pictures) but generally this is a really good example of this iconic guitar model – comes complete with it original canvas carry case/bag.
