1969 Yamaha FG-180 – Red Label Nippon Gakki – Made in Japan
Dreadnought-style body, select spruce top, mahogany back and sides, mahogany neck with 14/20-fret rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays and three-per-side nickel-plated tuners.
Often described as the “poor man’s Martin” – the Yamaha FG 180 possibly started more of the careers of aspiring singer songwriters during the 1970’s than any other guitar. This particular one all original and is in fantastic condition considering its 55+ years – some small marks to the top and a couple of small marks to the back is all it has to show for its years, along with the usual loss of finish to the top of the headstock - fretboard and frets are in great shape. The guitar was obviously fitted with a pickup at some point as it still have jack point in lower treble side of the guitar - ideal if you want to fit another pickup.
The action is nice with the saddle cut down pretty low - set up with a new set of Earthwood 12s - The guitar comes complete with a padded gig bag.
